The purpose of Community Voice is to increase the voice of citizens and especially those who are most marginalised in local policy and planning processes. The Programme also allows for capacity building and support to organisations and communities to concieve and deliver their own services.
The Community Voice portfolio for Merthyr Tydfil – MAGNET (Merthyr Achieving Greater Networking and Engagement Together) and co-ordinated by Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil (VAMT) also highlighted the importance of combating negative messages about Merthyr Tydfil and especially the impact they have on young people and their motivation to become involved in their community.
Funded by the Big Lottery, the portfolio has seven distinct projects, 3 of which are co-ordinated by Safer Merthyr Tydfil:
